Trip Summary

Cairo is not just a city, it is a tapestry of millennia of civilisations, faiths and empires. This heritage tour is a unique chance to discover two of the city’s oldest districts in a single expertly guided day.

Our trip starts at the Saladin Citadel, the mediaeval fortress that has guarded Cairo for over 800 years. Inside it is the spectacular muhammad ali mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, an Ottoman masterpiece that dominates the skyline of the city.

Then you will explore Cairo’s historic religious district, where you will walk past monumental mosques such as Sultan Hassan, Al-Rifa’i and the ancient Mosque of Amr ibn al-As (the oldest mosque in Africa). At every stop you’ll find layers of architectural genius and spiritual meaning.

Next we visit Coptic Cairo Egypt. This is the home of early Christianity in Egypt.  Here you will see the Hanging Church Egypt (Al-Muallaqa), one of the oldest churches in the Middle East. and the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Serga), where tradition says the Holy Family found shelter during their flight into Egypt.

This Coptic and Islamic Cairo tour is not simply sightseeing, but a pilgrimage of time, faith, and culture guided by a knowledgeable private guide who will bring every stone and story to life. As a Full-day Cairo heritage tour with guide, it brings together major religious and historical landmarks in one carefully planned experience.
